For those who can't get enough of first-rate transatlantic MCs, French-Syrian rapper Liqid has shared his latest single, "Robot Après Tout." Produced by Nick Sylvester of Brooklyn-based electronic label Godmode, the track (the title of which translates to "robot after all") bubbles deliberately alongside an imagined future cityscape. Whizzing synths arc over Liqid's rhymes, which he delivers with casual bravado; the song is playfully disorienting, something you would hear inside a very chill funhouse.
"'[Robot après tout]' is a kind of childish and sarcastic point of view about daily routine madness, lack of humanity nowadays, and individualism in the big cities," said Liqid, speaking to The FADER over email. "I'm like a kid watching all these mad people and thinking that it would be better to be a robot. In the chorus I say, change me into a robot! The song is also a tribute to great robot characters in pop culture. I'm still a big fan of Megaman, Astroboy, Optimus Prime, Goldorak, C3PO, [and] T800."
