Meet The Canadian 2016 Red Bull Music Academy Montreal Participants
5 of the 70 attendees will be from the north.
Red Bull Music Academy Montreal runs from September 24 to October 28. All 70 participants will congregate around the city's Phi Centre to hone their crafts with tutorials, lectures, and studio time. RBMA has taken place in cities around the world like Toronto, Madrid, New York City, and Tokyo, with alumni that includes Evian Christ, Mumdance, Katy B, Hudson Mohawke, and many more.
Since this year's intensive is being hosted in Montreal, we thought we'd introduce you to the five Canadians who are part of this year's cohort.
River Tiber
Perhaps the most recognizable name in the entire 2016 roster, this Toronto producer has been sampled by Drake, worked with Pusha T and Kaytranada, and released his debut album Indigo this week.
Marie Davidson
Since 2012, Marie Davidson has produced cerebral works of creepy, dusty krautrock out of her Montreal base.
Casey MQ
Part of glossy pop group Unbuttoned (and, according to Wikipedia, a member of cult Canadian synth-pop group Spoons), she'll strike it out solo for RBMA.
Angus Tarnawsky
This Australian native divides his time between NYC and Vancouver, and his practice between John Carpenter-esque electronica and visceral techno.
