London Rapper Flohio Makes Her Formidable Entrance In This God Colony Video
“SE16” is directed by GAIKA.
Today, London-based production duo God Colony release their debut EP Where We Were for free (get it here). The EP reps the U.K. as well as the U.S., with vocals from south London MC Flohio and Boston rapper Stash Marina. In the crew's vintage-feel debut video for the head-spinning single "SE16" (directed by Mixpak artist GAIKA), Flohio makes a debut that shows she's a force to be reckoned with.
"The theme for the 'SE16' visual was me having pure fun," Flohio told The FADER over email. "Wasn't trying to be all serious, look super cool or whatever. Working with GAIKA was live, his vision for the video was on point too, we experimented a lot and just captured [south London borough] Bermondsey in our own way."
"We knew we wanted to shoot this video in a place that means everything to Flohio, her home," God Colony added. "Where We Were is a record that tells stories about cities and the lives inside them – this EP was created in Liverpool, London, Boston, and New Orleans, so we needed to communicate that sprawling, chaotic sense of place." Watch it above.
