To celebrate the opening of the new Tate Modern building on June 17, Solange has collaborated with the London art gallery to create what's being described as "a unique video." There's little information yet as to what Solange's video will involve but a press release from her rep states that it is part of a series of videos inspired by and reflective of artworks within the new space. The Tate's new building will increase the gallery floor space by 60%, allowing greater diversity in exhibits, including live art, film, and installations.
Solange teased the video on Instagram on June 6. The short clip she posted showed four women climbing out of a cage and was captioned: "Creating and Composing something special for the @Tate Museum....and these beautiful babes who made my whole entire life." Photographer Carlota Guerrero also teased information on the project on Instagram, revealing that she and video director Alan Del Rio are working with Solange.
The FADER reached out to representative for both Solange and the Tate Modern but did not receive an immediate response.
