Lido Pimienta gives the smash some Barranquilla slang.

June 08, 2016

Rihanna's catchy megahit "Work" has a special resonance for Colombia-born, Toronto-based artist Lido Pimienta, who has remixed the track into Spanish. The new title "Camellando," is slang for "working" in her native city of Barranquilla, and in the remix the "Work" she describes is not punch-drunk wining, but the indignities of literally toiling to support a deadbeat, cheating boyfriend. If you don't speak Spanish, you can read at Remezcla all about how the one-sided relationships between men and women she saw growing up inspired the track. Listen below.
