Holy Wave is an Austin-based five-piece that has been churning blissful psychedelic pop and garage rock since 2012. From buzzing, lo-fi guitar riffing to spacious, delicate keyboard, they've certainly explored a wide spectrum of sounds.
Today, we're premiering their video for "Minstrel's Gallop," a chimerical track off their latest LP, Freaks of Nurture (which you can grab here). Filled with echoing vocals and ghostly keyboards, the track provides us momentary relief, carrying us on a sonic zephyr. Appearing to be traveling to an alternate dimension, the band plays hauntingly enticing melodies as superimposed textured flecks of light and dots dance across the screen.
"The song is about wandering through life and getting sucked up into shitty patterns, like dedicating all your time to your restaurant job or getting wasted afterward," the band's Ryan Fuson told The FADER over email. "It's about how depressing that can get and how you can leave certain people behind when you get wrapped up in those things. We called it the 'Minstrel's Gallop' because it's the name some of the guys gave to my one dance move, and I figure people can see my moods coming on like they can a dance move."
