Watch The Stunning Video For Julia Holter’s Remix Of Amatorski’s “Hear Me”

“The essence is in the attempt to keep the conversation going.”

Amatorski, critical darlings of Belgium's electronic scene, recently released a very special remix of their single "Hear Me" by Julia Holter. Today the duo shares the bewitching video for Holter's remix of the otherworldly track, featuring a girl communicating with sign language, interspersed with flashes of what may be going on in her mind—memories, dreams, fantasies.

"I found inspiration for this dreamy, soulful song in a strange, quasi-Lynchian dream I had," Amatorski's vocalist and composer Inne Eysermans told The FADER in an email. "I've been drawing ideas from the way music is being used in films, and have been listening to a lot of electronic music (Laurel Halo, Tim Hecker), and old-school ambient masters like Gavin Bryars, Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois. We are also very happy with the remix by Julia, as it is almost like the soundtrack to the original song."

"The video for the remix of 'Hear Me' by Julia Holter depicts the impaired communication between two inner selves of one single person," the video's directors Tobi Jonson and Pommelien Koole added. "The girl uses sign language to convey complex ideas and feelings, derived from the lyrics and evoked by the pictures. As hopeless as it seems at times to explain herself to herself, the essence is in the attempt to keep the conversation going."
