As reported by EW, Brandy has filed a lawsuit against her record label Chameleon Entertainment Group, claiming that they have prevented her from recording any new music since 2012. The singer made a comeback this year with the surprise Soundcloud upload “Beggin’ and Pleadin’,” but has not put out a full album since 2012’s Two Eleven.
Brandy claims that her recording contract with Chameleon meant that they had the option of releasing four more of her albums, but alleges that they have prevented her from recording new material. She also claims the label attempted to coerce her into signing a new recording deal which she believes to contain terms far worse than her current agreement.
According to her statement in the suit, Brandy has already dissolved her contract with the label, but is now waiting for a judge to rule it as void, as well as seeking $1 million in compensatory damages.
In an email to The FADER, Brandy's rep stated that the singer is declining to comment at this time.
