JME probably wasn't the first person to rap over the Pokémon TV show theme song when he dropped “The Very Best,” but he certainly set the standard. Now, to celebrate Pokémon's 20th (!) anniversary, the grime MC and producer has recorded a video for the company's YouTube channel explaining his fandom for one Pokémon trading card in particular: the Shiny Charizard.
When JME was collecting Pokémon cards in school, he never managed to grip the rare holographic Charizard card. So when he took off as an internationally renowned grime artist, he leveraged that position to obtain the cards by trading them for gold vinyl copies of his latest album Integrity. He's got at least ten of the cards secured in a frame, which JME says he'll put on the wall of his studio so he can “spit flames.” My brother tried to arrange a trade with JME when he was in London, but it never worked out. Has his Charizard collection reached level 99? Watch above via FACT.
