In a recent interview with Nylon, Nicki Minaj suggests that the forthcoming ABC Family show based on her life will offer TV watchers a new experience: “I’ve never seen a little girl rapping on scripted TV,” she notes. In Nicki, 11 year-old Ariana Neal portrays Minaj, who will help the young actress with her rapping “so that older people are gonna respect her.” Nylon also reports that “the pilot revolves around a pair of $50 Fila boots [Minaj] wanted as a child but her mother couldn’t afford.”
Minaj appears in no rush to push together a new album. “Where I left off with The Pinkprint was a little bit emotionally unstable,” she explains. “I wanted to take a moment to just live my life, enjoy my life, have fun, go out. I think that’s very important before you start writing again. It’s a spiritual experience for the people who are hearing the music, so I’m trying to be very careful of what mental space I’m in while I’m creating it. Now, I want my happiness to be reflected in the new stuff.”
“Musically, I feel very fulfilled,” she adds. “Now I can start tapping into my acting world, where it’s about passion and not about the money.”
