She may have only just released a surprise EP on Demdike Stare's DDS imprint, but the restless Micachu is back today with yet another release. The producer has teamed up with one of her key collaborators from that project—and one of her longest-running partners in music—east London MC Brother May, for the sweetly titled May and Meeks EP.
With grin-inducing bars and a deadpan flow, May ducks and weaves around Micachu' characteristically murky, scratchy beats, telling the story of the pair's friendship and collaboration almost in full on the plucky anthem "Born Winners" and the twinkling ode to friendship, "Rot Away." As May puts it, when he and his pal Mica Levi get together: the combination is too deadly on tracks.
The EP is out now on a new imprint called Curl Recordings. Get it here.
