Listen To Happa’s Acidic, Slow Burning “Drag”
At just 18, the U.K. producer has been championed by the likes of James Blake and FKA Twigs.
18-year-old Samir Alikhanizadeh, aka Happa, is a producer from Leeds who's been making waves since 2013 with his brooding house. James Blake has been known to spin his tunes on Radio 1, and FKA Twigs even recruited him to work on her M3LL155X EP (he has a production credit on the storming "In Time"). Last year, he released the Part 1 EP on his own imprint PT/5—today, he announces the follow-up Part 2 with the blistering acidic whirlwind that is "Drag."
“I find it really hard to name songs, and the names usually mean diddly squat," Happa told The FADER over email. "In this case, the name is almost an onomatopoeia, as to me it sounds as though it’s dragging some shit tied to string at its heels; as if it’s only just keeping up with its own tempo. Maybe that’s why it stood out from a lot of my other rigid, machine-like productions. Also, it was nice to use some acid sounds, that’s always fun innit.”
