Tom Tom Club, the group started by Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, both members of the Talking Heads, released "Genius Of Love" in 1981. The track went on to reach the top 40, but its legacy was really cemented by samplers. The DNA of "Genius Of Love" reappeared almost immediately in early rap tunes by the likes of Grandmaster Flash, and went on to buoy Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" in the next decade.
Tinashe teamed up with DJ Cassidy to pay homage to the Tom Tom Club's track this week. The song will appear in a new ad campaign from Target. Listen to the new version of "Genius Of Love" above.
