In 2014, the Atlanta rapper and singer Pollàri dropped the thundering "FeFe," a Metro Boomin track featuring Playboi Carti. Two years later, Pollàri is ready to drop his debut LP, what he describes over email to The FADER as "my baby, my official representation of me to the world." Listening to Sonya's first single, "LifeLike," it's clear that Pollàri has done a lot of growing up.
"LifeLike," premiering below, is a syrupy track that, at first glance, isn't about any one thing; Pollàri sings about girls and family and music and staying up all night over a watery synth line produced by WEDIDIT's D33J and Shlohmo. Atlanta upstart Lil Yachty's verse slices through the haze, but the track's beauty is in its sleepy humility. Pollàri admits "I"m starting to hate my night life," and raps about being misunderstood. Pollàri explains "LifeLike" is a song for his brother, "a project I made hand-in-hand with my brother Nick Melons, and entirely produced by Shlohmo & D33J of WEDIDIT." Welcome to the family.
