Earlier this winter, writer Marlon Bishop and photographer Ryan Lowry flew to the southern tip of Argentina, then up to Buenos Aires, to follow reggaeton star J Balvin as he toured South America. The resulting cover story is one of two from The FADER’s new Global Issue, and it arrives in full today at 6 p.m.

For the first time in the magazine's history, J Balvin's cover story will be published online in both English and Spanish. Physical copies of the magazine will be on newsstands on March 8.

First, though, here’s a trailer featuring behind-the-scenes photos from J Balvin's cover shoot, taken by Nacho G. Riaza, and one of the story’s many great quotes. “I want to invite the mainstream into my world, and to my sound, and to what I’m doing,” Balvin says. “And I want mainstream artists to respect me, and accept Latino artists as equals, without us having to sing in English. I want them to know that I can compete globally with whomever, in Spanish.”
