New York indie rock stalwarts Caveman have spent the past three years chiseling away at a new album, and this summer they will unveil the final product, Otero War.
Coincidentally, the first song to be released off Otero War—an optimistic, anthemic jam called "Never Going Back" that contains shades of Springsteen (or at least, like, Gaslight Anthem doing Springsteen)—is also the first song that was written for the album. As the band's Matthew Iwanusa explained in an email to The FADER, "Never Going Back" "kind of gave us a direction to work towards and around, sometimes in the sense that we wanted songs close to it and sometimes we were looking for the exact opposite of it. It’s a pivotal song on the record and we’re really excited for it to be out."
Otero War is slated for release this summer on Cinematic; till then, give "Never Going Back" a spin below.
