Loom Brings His Heartache To The Club With “Fractured Light”

Out this month on Mr Mitch’s Gobstopper Records.

One of "cold war grime" producer Loom's greatest strengths is his ability to move from delicate melodies to raw, grizzly rhythms: from dancefloor heaters to introspective headphone moments. It's a split you won't see anywhere more clearly than on "Fractured Light"—taken from his European Heartache EP, upcoming on Mr Mitch's Gobstopper label—which leaps from ghostly grime hymn to out-and-out club banger in a head-spinning minute.

"'Fractured Light' is probably my favourite from my EP," Loom told The FADER via DM. "I wanted to write something that would go off in a club. I'd started playing more shows when I began this EP and I wanted to play more of my own stuff." As he puts it in the press release, Mr Mitch views European Heartache as Loom's "most realized work to date. Beautiful, playful, and at times aggressive." Don't let the glimmering intro fool you—brace yourself as you listen below (and cop the EP next week for Valentine's Day).
