“All you boys in the New Toronto wanna be me a little.”

January 31, 2016

Tonight Drake premiered the victorious new song "Summer Sixteen." The release finds Drake getting a lot off of his chest, with mentions of Obama, his feud with Meek Mill and the size of his swimming pool peppering the bombastic new track. One topic that stood out to the rappers in Drake's hometown of Toronto was a subtle barb at the start of the track's latter, more boisterous, half. Drake raps, "All you boys in the New Toronto wanna be me a little" on the track, alluding to a new wave of musicians coming out of the city. There are plenty of people speculating that he's talking about Torey Lanez, whose latest mixtape is literally titled "The New Toronto." Fellow Gen F alum Jazz Cartier, at least, appears to be sure that it isn't about him.
