Spencer Radcliffe's debut album is beautifully odd. I listened to it a lot last year, particularly as autumn shifted to winter. It was freakishly warm in New York for a while, but it still felt like winter. Maybe because there weren't any leaves on the trees.
Today we're premiering the video for "Relief," a song that the Chicago songwriter says is the "closest thing I have to a favorite on the album." Directed by Emilie Norenberg and filmed by Sirus f Gahan, the clip features a girl wandering around a big empty lakeside hotel. It definitely has a wintry vibe, as it's clearly the off-season. The track's sad strings and faraway-sounding drums mesh nicely with the lonely scene.
"My main request was that there be a minimal human presence, as that's what the track is generally about," Radcliffe told The FADER in an email. "The weight that someone's presence or lack thereof does or doesn't have.” Looking In is out now on Run For Cover.
