Listen To Cellist Shannon Hayden’s "Vanished"
It’s from her new album You See the World, due out February 19.
Shannon Hayden is a cellist from Chicago who combines her classical background with an interest in ambient electronics. Taken from her forthcoming album, You See the World, "Vanished" is a brooding yet restorative song that has a sense of wet earth about it—a heavy warmth sliced by silver molecules.
"Like most of the songs on the album, ‘Vanished' has to do with how we connect with all that's happening around us," Hayden told The FADER over email. "How much we let ourselves be influenced by outside forces without losing our sense of self. It's so easy to be overwhelmed and kind of nice also to sometimes have our own little world swallowed up by something much larger where we have to find our way around again. I don't need all the answers, but the questions I have help to create a tiny space of my own where I can let all the distortion just settle into some sort of usable data.” You See the World is due out February 19 (pre-order it here).
