Nimble-tongued rap upstart Smino hails from St. Louis, but has clocked many hours working in Chicago—in the same studio where Chance the Rapper recorded Acid Rap even—and you can hear it on his promising new mixtape Blk Juptr, which premieres today on The FADER.
Produced by Soulection affiliate Monte Booker, it is the result of Smino's effort to carve out a place for himself. "As people who have been alienated for so long, sometimes we have to create our own space," he told The FADER. "Blk Juptr is the best escape. It's what happens when you give power to the pursuit."
