In the video for Lauren Turk's "Love Leftover," the singer is covered in a multitude of flowers in the middle of Washington Square Park. She's a tourist attraction and an art wonder all at once. Just when you think all of her flowers are going to be plucked away by strangers, actress and hero Amandla Stenberg enters the frame and gives one back to her. As Turk explained over email to The FADER, it "symbolizes the cycle of giving, and the need to support one another."
The visual is a good companion piece to the glimmering song and a reminder in these hellacious days of winter that it's important to care for others and yourself.
"I've been asked if 'Love Leftover' is a love song, and it is, but it’s a self love song," she explained. "I think we’ve all been there—heartbroken and ready to shut out the world. But in doing that, it’s only us who loses. The great triumph is in staying you—staying loving and open—having love leftover to give."
Reverie, Turk's debut EP, is set to drop in February 2016. She'll also be doing a European tour in the spring. Check out the video above and be good, y'all.
