It may not be self-evident but "dub" is an all-purpose word. According to slang scholar OG Maco, it's a noun, a pronoun, an adjective, and, on certain occasions, even a verb. On a recent visit to The FADER's offices, the Atlanta, Georgia rapper broke down the etymology of "dub," tracing its origins to the New York area and its eventual adoption by people in his home city. "It originated in New York but y'all never heard about that, so we went ahead and took that," he said.
