If all goes as according to plan, early next year Hunx and Punx frontman Seth Bogart will be blessing us with a new solo project—title TBD—that is slated to feature various contributions from Rookie's Tavi Gevinson, Cherry Glazerr, Chela, and riot grrrl icon Kathleen Hanna, who is featured on the project's delightful lead-single, "Eating Makeup."
Equally delightful is this kooky and colorful new video for "Eating Making," which is a fun house of color and life size make applicators—like a gigantic makeup compact, which sings Hanna's part. (Hanna is not actually in the video.) And of course, tons of beauty products are consumed. Because as the song goes, Once I taste it, I just could not stop eating makeup.
"I really wanted this video to look like a kid's show," Bogart explained in an email to The FADER. "I painted the backdrops and my friend Christine Stormberg (who is in the video) made Compactie out of paper mache. I had the idea that a giant compact would be dancing and singing to the song and it would eventually eat me. Kathleen Hanna is the voice of Compactie, a giant man eating singing compact."
Speaking directly to the song, he added: "I've wanted to do a song with Kathleen since she first took my old band on tour with Le Tigre in 2002 (I think?). I made the song with my friend Cole MGN who produced and co-wrote my upcoming album, coming out on Burger Records. The video also stars some of my other best friends, Peggy Noland (who made my pink suit in the video), Tierney Finster and Tashi Condalee."
