After taking a turn towards dancehall-inflected pop songs with his two-track Jasmine EP with vocalist Gemma Dunleavy earlier this year, London-based producer Murlo is back on a pure instrumental tip with his latest release Odyssey (due via Mixpak on November 6). "Furnace," the third of eight new tracks to hit the internet, is his most manic yet: there's bells, whistles, claps, bass—a lot of bass—and a chaotic, head-spinning sense of fun.
"This tune takes place in the boiler room of the ship," Murlo explained to The FADER over email. "I had a good time making the tune, it kinda took me back to the industrial estate my dad works at. We lived just behind it and metal falling on metal and cutting saws were pretty much my alarm clock every morning.” Get swept up via the player below.
