Willow Smith has released a slew of tracks this year, including the brusque "Wit A Indigo," the pilgrimage-inspired "WEEPINGWILOUGH/LETSGOTOMECCA," and the Girlpool-inspired "F Q-C #7." "Why Don't You Cry" is one of her poppiest songs to date, with a synthesizer backbone that fits with the current top 40 climate. In the video, she gets into a fierce argument with her parents (not her real parents), who refuse to let her go to a party. Then the singer blows off steam with a series of animated, energetic stage moves.
Willow told i-D, "If it wasn't for my parents, I wouldn't have learned that becoming still and traveling within is the only thing that really matters. You can try and point the finger at everybody else as much as you want, but the only reason you're feeling the way you're feeling about something that somebody else is doing is because of the way that you're perceiving it, and that has everything to do with your conditioning and the way you've been raised."
