Here's a great album about to come out: Spencer Radcliffe's Looking In.
Out October 2nd, it's the Chicago-based Radcliffe's first LP for Boston godsends Run for Cover, and the latest in a long line of striking, different music: he's put out ambient stuff as Blithe Fields and done two A+ emo projects, the softer California Furniture and screamier Best Witches. The music he's been cultivating under his own name, leading up to this, his debut LP, is maybe more in the Silver Jews, Built to Spill, 2015 DIY rock mold—but weirder, with surprising burps and dog barks collaged in.
Check out the debut of "Yankee," followed by the album's excellent lead-off track "Mia," below. This fall's going to be a lot of afternoons trying to decide between playing this and playing the new Alex G, and then just clearing your schedule to play them both. Oh man, it's almost fall.
