Portland-based retailer Wildfang was founded by Emma McIlroy and Julia Parsley, who dubbed their creation “the world’s first home for tomboys.” Earlier this year, McIlroy told The FADER, “Many of the people we spoke to in our journey to get here felt like they were being restricted or excluded in some ways. That’s a shitty thing, when you can't self-express. No one reaches their full potential when that's the case.”

Wildfang’s latest burst of creativity is designed to maximize potential: they created a series of looks based on famous rockers’ Rolling Stone covers, drawing inspiration from Bob Dylan, Boy George, the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, and Van Halen’s David Lee Roth. Head here to see more styles grounded in Neil Young, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix. Check out the full lookbook here, and find out what eight creative women had to say about tomboy style and why it isn't just a trend.
