Last year, Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life in prison. But last month, two previously-unheard songs hit the internet (date of recording unknown). It’s typical fare from the dancehall singer, with bare, sinewy rhythm parts glued together by Kartel’s sticky vocals.
Look for Highland Riddim on August 21, read FADER’s feature on Kartel, and find out if dancehall is becoming mainstream again.
