Birth Defects is an L.A. rock & roll band that features members of Thee Oh Sees and Bleached. Their loud, scrappy new record, First 8 Mistakes, was produced by Ty Segall and drops tomorrow, July 17th, on Nathan from Wavves' label, Ghost Ramp. "Ty offered to record the record for free because he's the nicest fucking dude ever," frontman Jason Finazzo told The FADER in an email. "Took a total of three hours to record it. A couple weeks later I passed it along to Nate [of Wavves]. He offered to put it out. So, of course, we said fuck yeah. I guess the next step is to keep drinking in dark bars."

The album—streaming below a day early—has a certain boozy, dashed-off quality you'd expect from a bunch of hard-partying rockers who happened to be in the right place at the right time. It's got some great song names and some great songs, like "Drunken Religious Rant By A Soulless Heathen," which plays out with the exact sort of howling desperation that its title suggests. Drink up!
