Rome Fortune has worked with a wide range of collaborators, including iLoveMakonnen, OG Maco, Ceej, and Four Tet. His latest track is a project with Toro Y Moi (Chaz Bundick). Bundick’s music often leans towards funk, disco, and house, but the instrumental he put together for “Pitch Black” is different, with a strange, horror-film synth that periodically punctures the beat. Fortune pays homage to Outkast in the start of his verse: The coolest motherfunker on the planet. But halfway through the second line, he changes direction—the sky is falling, caught that shit and handed it to you.
