Nine Inch Nails’ Alessandro Cortini Announces New Solo Album With A Brooding Track
The electronic artist premieres “La Sveglia” from his new Hospital Productions double-LP.
Alessandro Cortini, the technically skilled live-electronics artist who has been a part of Trent Reznor-led projects like Nine Inch Nails and How to destroy angels_ since 2004, has a new solo LP on the way. It's called Risveglio, and lead-off track "La Sveglia" is a six-plus minute exercise in shadowy ambience: Cortini arragnes an intentionally anti-climactic swarm of faded synths that echo like memories in an empty skull.
"It represents the whole record well, I feel," Cortini told FADER of the song. "It latches onto a sequence of notes while it evolves sonically, spectrally, and emotionally." Of the song's similar-sounding sections, he adds: "Repetition is obviously a theme I really enjoy, for better or worse. Repetition is bound to leave a mark on the listener. It can go either way, and I am fine with either." Risveglio, out July 27th, is Cortini's second release for Prurient's noise-centric label Hospital Productions. He'll create live, audiovisual performances of both records at the Berlin Atonal 2015, which goes down August 19th-23rd.
