Debuting a new hairdo can be a tricky thing, especially so for those that choose to dabble in the world of fake dreadlocks. The hairstyle, which has roots in ancient Egypt and various religious sects, in particular has a tendency for raising eyebrows when replicated in pop culture. Zendaya's temporary locks became a hot topic when E!'s Juliana Ranic said that they probably reeked of marijuana. Last month, Fetty Wap took to Instagram to defend his brand-new blonde tresses and, most recently shared with Hot 97 that his lock extensions came from a local New Jersey woman that grew them in "power" and "positivity."
