Los Angeles felt a little bit less sprawling on Thursday night when The FADER and sweetgreen threw the sweetlife LA block party in the back of sweetgreen's new West Hollywood location. DJ Tamara Sky provided the soundtrack for the sunset with a mix of electronic and house music as the crowd—including HAIM and actress Minka Kelly—filled up on an array of sweetgreen salads, Belcampo Meat Co. pork sliders, and vegan donuts from Fonuts, and washed it down with Verve coffee, wine, and Flying Dog beer. Keeping in theme with the freshness of sweetgreen, there were also crates of whole vegetables to pick from—and “Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe” totes to store them in for the way home—as well as astroturf couches to lounge on.

As the sun sank into the horizon, the party moved around the corner on 3rd St. for live sets from Alvvays and Banks, and attendees piled into the PHHHOTO booth in between. Everyone gathered around the stage to watch the Toronto indie pop band blaze through favorites from their wondrous self-titled album, released last year, including their standout “Archie, Marry Me,” which they ended with. Banks meanwhile set the perfect tone for nightfall as she delivered favorites from her slinky R&Brood debut album Goddess, from last year. Cloaked in all black, she sauntered around the stage as she crooned tracks like “Brain,” “Change,” “Drowning,” and “Waiting Game,” which closed the evening.
