Listen to Holy Ghost! Remix Of Jose Gonzalez’s “Let It Carry You”
The Brooklyn-based synthpop duo come correct with another rework off upcoming album Work For Hire.
Dancefloor dons Holy Ghost! debut their remix of Jose Gonzalez's "Let It Carry You," another glittery tune off their upcoming compilation of reworks, Work For Hire, out May 5. For me, the remix triggers memories of summer in Chicago circa 2011: Lollapalooza is just around the corner and this is the sound I can't wait to be enveloped in. Next, memories of my older, lanky, excessively white brother pop-locking in our living room to "Wait & See" seep in, nearly ruining the moment. There's something magical about that time — Cut Copy, Hey Champ, Miami Horror, Holy Ghost! (duh) — when festival lineups were laden with synthpop nerds who, for whatever obscure reason, beheld the tools to get the party popped off than a mf-er.
The Brooklyn-based pair, Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel, are big fans of Jose's and shared with FADER via email: "Jose's voice is so good that it made working on this remix really enjoyable. We started it by recording new live drums in our studio in Bushwick, then added the bass line on the modular and chords on the cs80, and pretty quickly we were excited about where it was going. It took about 2 weeks to make and it was just really pleasant and fun the whole time. It's the last remix on the album and it's now one of our favorites." In addition to the album release, the guys are launching an all-vinyl DJ tour next week.
