It's been a little more than a year since Kehlani's Cloud 19, and a lot has changed for the Bay area star in the making. To name just some of the ways: "Being on tour, obviously everything getting crazy, relationships around me, in love life, home life," as she explained during a visit to New York last month. And as she tells it, these life changes helped shape her new mixtape You Should Be Here Now, which spans 14-songs, includes a clutch of features (from Lexii Alijai, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Chance the Rapper), and is out now on SoundCloud and iTunes.
"There's nobody doing what I'm doing," she told FADER, confirming that her appetite for influence has only grown with her fame. "Yeah, there's R&B singer girls, but they're not making shit that's quality. Everybody wants to get on the radio, everybody wants this poppin' single, everybody wants to get drunk in the club. Nobody's making anything that's quality, that actually has something to say. My lane is wide the fuck open, I'm going to take full force."
