Waka Flocka Flame has launched many campaigns—for presidency, to hire a blunt roller—in recent months, all in good fun. This latest drive feels a little heavier, though. This afternoon the rapper fired off two tweets (below) accusing his label Atlantic of holding up the release of his looooong incubating album Flockaveli 2, adding: "LET ME BUYOUT BY CONTRACT ASAP." Supporters are encouraged to tweet using the hashtag #letwakago.
Last we heard, the album was set for release on June 1. But in a recent interview with MTV, Waka divulged that his never-ending tour schedule has made it difficult to clock studio time and that the big-name features (including Lil Wayne and Kanye West) that he's teased were mentioned in jest. We've reached out to Atlantic Records to see if the release date has in fact been pushed back, and are awaiting comment.
