Miguel is in negotiations to star in a forthcoming romantic comedy produced by Oscar-winning songwriter John Legend, Variety reports. Directed by Nabil Elderkin, who has directed such memorable music videos as Nicki Minaj's "Lookin Ass" and Frank Ocean's "Pyramids," the as-yet-untitled film will center on a fading one-hit wonder who finds his fire for music relit when he is hired to coach an aspiring singer for her audition on a competitive TV show. In addition to producing, Legend will curate the music for the project.
"Mike, Ty and I are really excited about producing our longtime friend and collaborator Nabil Elderkin's directorial debut. He's a major talent and being able to cast Miguel in the male lead puts us in the position to really build an incredible film with strong musical elements. We look forward to working with this dream team we've assembled to deliver something special," said Legend in a release.
