Over the past year, Tupac's name has made headlines with the Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me and Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly, which samples an interview with the late rapper. But he's about to become an even bigger part of the conversation as the 20th anniversary of his September 1996 death approaches. In an interview with Billboard, the co-head of Pac's estate, Jeff Jampool, revealed that there will be a wealth of new releases from Tupac coming up. "Almost an embarrassment of riches," Jampool calls it, referring to "unreleased music, released music, remixes, original demos, writings, scripts, plans, video treatments, poems." "Some of [the material] is in bits and pieces, some of it is complete; some of it is good, some of it needs work," added Tom Whalley, who's working alongside Jampool. "But I think the work that is left can be completed, and is worth his fans hearing." The pair also said that they're open to working more with Kendrick Lamar in the future: "At some point in time, Kendrick would be brilliant to work with Tupac's [material]. He's one of the new great poets."
