The Haxan Cloak Claims That Tidal Ripped Him Off
“This happens to artists way too often.”
March 30, 2015
If you've spent five minutes on the internet today, you've probably watched the star-studded teaser video for this afternoon's announcement concerning Jay Z's TIDAL streaming service. The ominous music soundtracking the ad seems to reference two distinct songs from experimental artist the Haxan Cloak—specifically, "Mara" and "The Mirror Reflecting, Pt. 1" from Haxan's 2013 LP Excavation—and Haxan and his label, Tri Angle, are not happy about the similarities.
This is so shameful. Thanks for not getting in touch and ripping me off, Tidal.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying Tidal used my music; I'm saying they used an imitation of it. This happens to artists way too often.

Respect to Tidal for licensing some @haxan_cloak music and for not asking someone to unceremoniously rip him off https://t.co/HEK9Vn5ULe
