Show Me The Body’s “Bone Soup” Is Gritty And Loud And Perfectly New York
Blunt guts, 40s, and outer borough punk.
The members of Queens punk trio Show Me The Body run around in the same NYC-centric circles as the genre-bending hip-hop crew and FADER cover stars Ratking. The new video for "Bone Soup," a harsh cut from the band's upcoming four-song EP, celebrates their version of the city, a place where art and noise and debauched creativity intersect, and the only rules seem to be: live fast, play hard, make cool shit.
The clip is gritty but also super pretty, rendered in a kind of saturated greyscale that makes it feel very New York but also unhinged from any specific era; kids have been puking beer and dropping acid and hitting blunts in subway stations for decades now. According to Julian Cashwan Pratt, who sings and and wields a banjo when the band plays live, the song "is about healing," and listening to its reckless energy definitely feels like getting something off your chest. SMTB drops April 21st via Letter Racer, their own collective.
