Killer Mike Injured By Onstage Attacker At SXSW
He has a torn rotator cuff, but insists: “the tour goes on!”
On Monday at SXSW, Run the Jewels were interrupted mid-set by an unidentified man who attempted to attack them onstage. Once the offender was knocked out by a security guard, Killer Mike and El-P continued with their set; but The NME reports today that Killer Mike had to fly to Atlanta to see his doctor after the show. The rapper was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff and advised to wear a sling, but told the crowd at another Run the Jewels set at Stubb's on Friday: "I was like, 'Doctor, I'm not leaving the road...The tour goes on!"
Before playing "Banana Clipper" this time at Stubb's, the pair joked about the incident, with El-P saying: "Last time we did this song, it was interrupted. Let's not let that happen again." Killer Mike added: "If you interrupt this song, we'll beat the fuck out of you." See fan footage of the attack below.
