Sam Hunt is a country singer with a hundred-thousand fans and a few traditionalists bent out of shape about his major pop-R&B bent. But after his debut album, Montevallo, I'm firmly in the "pro" camp: he's bringing new ideas to a genre that's so massive it can handle a little shaking up, and maybe stand to grow a bit creatively, too.
Today at The FADER FORT Presented by Converse, that meant interpolating the first verse of Drake's "Marvin's Room" into his performance of "Single for the Summer." Hunt has been working the quick Drake riff into sets on his Lipstick Graffiti Tour, along with covers of Reba McEntire—blessings on both counts.
