Marvin Gaye's family will never stop going in against "Blurred Lines." Last week, they won a lawsuit against Pharrell and Robin Thicke concerning the song's alleged plagiarizing of "Got To Give It Up," and The Hollywood Reporter reports that the family filed motions late last night to revise the jury's verdict to hold T.I., Universal Music, Interscope Records, and Star Trak Entertainment responsible for infringement as well. Yikes.
The Gaye family contends that there's no culpability extended towards the mentioned parties "by virtue of their participation in the creation, manufacture and distribution," and U.S. District Judge John Kronstadt elaborated, "[I]f the jury finds there's infringement and if Universal distributed the recording, then according to what I heard [a lawyer for team Williams] say, they would be liable." Suffice to say, sounds like this battle is far from over.
