Jam City does a fine, if cutting, job of taking the temperature of our times on the latest song from his new album, Dream A Garden. "Today" lines up contenders for the new opiate of the masses: the computer, porn, actual self-medication. Not so long ago, I was a child with a computer/ All the fumes today/ Made me wish I'd burnt it sooner/ But anyway/ I guess it's back to the porn and Adderall, he sings into his guitar, with enough of a thread of hope in his voice to lift the heart. The architect of Classical Curves has proved himself the consummate lyricist with this one. Nights Slugs release Dream A Garden on March 23rd.
