Everything is still coming up Gully. Last January, we were inspired by the slums-to-Sting story of Gully Bop, the most talked-about new voice in Jamaican dancehall. While his ascension on the island was unprecedented, Bop soon faced a hurdle many other foreign artists struggled with, let alone the formally homeless: securing the proper identification and paperwork that would allow him to leave Jamaica and tour internationally. Now, with the apparent help of manager/fianceé Shauna Chin, Gully Bop has secured his travel visa and has announced a string of Spring shows throughout the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. Bop was always confident: "Me nuh have no bad background. Me straight you know. Never go ah jail yet, never confrotate [sic], never jump fence," the "Wuk Affa Mi" deejay told reporters last month. London fans can catch Bop kicking his tour off live this Sunday. Who Jah bless let no man curse!
