Float On A Cloud With Taragana Pyjarama’s “Ariel”
Hear the title track from the Danish producer’s new EP.
Danish producer Nick Kold Ericksen's established himself as a purveyor of slow-cooking, gossamer techno as Taragana Pyjarama, and on May 4 he returns with a new EP, Ariel, via True Panther. If you've been down with his shit before, the dreamy tones of "Ariel" will be like pure candy to you, with a new focus on vocals that both fans and the uninitiated will find plenty pleasing. "I've been really focused on the vocal lately, something that I did not care for in the past," Ericksen told FADER in an email. "Especially Pop and R&B vocals with a certain hook or tone to them. 'Ariel' was the last track I started on the EP. I had to find a way to complete the record - there was a sort of gap and I couldn't figure out what was needed. I tried to mold the pop aspect with fairly simple patterns and melodies which led to an almost melancholy and uplifting feel, a cross between the two emotions. This is what 'Ariel' became, and it made me rethink the whole record and work around it. Each track has its own place, but this track is special to me because the record would have sounded very different without it."
