From Alldayeveryday, the collective that built a pop-up zine stand in a Brooklyn subway station, comes a permanent concept space at Red Bull Studios New York, The Gift Shop. Opening to the public tomorrow, the hybrid retail/event space will sell limited item releases and feature artist performances and collaborations. Alldayeveryday Managing Partner Kevin Kearney describes the space as "an open-ended conduit for creativity, where artists can connect and share with the public." With a mixture of invite-only events and public presentations, the space will feature everything from bespoke shoes to hand-painted sculptures by Mark Mulroney.
For tonight's opening, The Gift Shop has commissioned artist Ted's Draws to design this limited edition Juvenile tee, available at an invite-only performance with the N.O. legend. "As soon as I heard Juvenile was the one performing, I knew the shirt would turn out great, as he has such an individual style," Draws tells The FADER. "I always loved the old school Pen & Pixel album covers. It was important for me to add a little piece of that style, but with my personal interpretation. Think about it: 'Back That Azz Up' would make a good T-shirt with just the stand-alone text, so all the elements came together like a Ragu."
