It was bound to happen, and now it did: Beck has responded to Kanye West's attempt to storm the stage after his Grammy win for Album of the Year over, among others, Beyoncé—as well as Ye's comments thereafter. And guess what? Beck's a pretty good sport about it! "I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody," he told US Weekly. "How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?" A lot, Beck. A lot.
Beck was equally pragmatic about Kanye's claim that the Grammys needed to respect "true artistry" and for Beck to hand over his golden Grammy to Beyoncé. "You can't please everybody, man. I still love him and think he's genius. I aspire to do what he does." Beck's got love for Queen B, too: "I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyoncé!" She is, Beck. She is.
