(Jerry Seinfeld voice) What's the deal with all these pop stars issuing cease-and-desist takedowns to people selling unauthorized merch? I mean, it's actually pretty obvious why they'd do it—and they are! First it was Beyoncé, and then Katy Perry—and now, after a much-discussed trademark-grabbing spree, Taylor Swift's doing the same.
Buzzfeed reports that Swift's legal team have been issuing takedown notices to Etsy stores selling Tay-associated merch, which includes bootleg 1989 coffee cups that don't even look that cool, so, no great loss here. This is a victory for people who think Etsy is full of garbage, but perhaps not so much for those who want to cop T-Swift merch for cheap and on the dolo. Better save your pennies for the tour merch stand, then.
